Christmas Twisted Star Bread

  • ¼ ounce dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup raspberry jam
  • 3-¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • ¼ cup softened butter
  • Confectioner’s sugar
  • Beaten Egg
  • Salt

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water until it becomes foamy. Take another bowl and mix butter, sugar, milk, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix the yeast and a part of the all-purpose flour and beat it for 1 minute until smooth. Add the remaining flour gradually to get a soft dough.
  2. Drizzle flour on a clean work surface then knead the dough gently to make it elastic [about 6 – 8 minutes]. Grease it in a bowl and then cover it for about 1 hour to let it rise.
  3. Punch dough on a floured surface and divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll a piece to a 12-inch circle. Apply a third of jam on top and place the dough on a pizza pan. Repeat the procedure, adding dough and jam in alternating layers, and end the top with dough.
  4. Using a 2-1/2-inch cutter, create a circle at the center of the dough-jam mixture [don’t press]. Take a sharp knife and use it to cut 16 equal portions around the ring to the edge of the dough. Hold two adjacent pieces and fold outward, then pinch the end. Do the same for the remaining portions.
  5. Cover them in a bowl and let them rise for half an hour. Bake in a pre-heated oven [375°] for 22 minutes until they achieve a golden brown color, and remove from oven.
